I work as an early stage researcher at the Sleep and Cognition group of the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in Amsterdam. A main goal of our project is the identification of homogenous subgroups of insomnia, since heterogeinity of the insomnia population hampers insights into the mechanisms underlying this complex disorder. In addition, such phenotypical dissection can allow for identification of endophenotypes (biomarkers) and thus bridge the gap between genetics and phenotypes.
